Celebrity City Chorus has a wonderful history. We have been educating and
entertaining in the Las Vegas Area since becoming established in 1962.
In 2012, as we celebrated our 50th Anniversary involved in the Vegas Arts community,
we received recognition from Mayor Goodman and Governor Sandoval.
We have over 70 members, ranging in age from 15 to 80+, in occupations from corporate executive to housewife to teacher to health care worker and more! Some of our performers have even made membership a family tradition, by recruiting their sisters, mothers, daughters and granddaughters! We've come a long way and our journey has many interesting highlights.
Each spring we compete with other Region 11 choruses, and in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2010 and 2013, we had the honor of bringing home the 1st place medal! As Regional Champions, we have represented our Region in the International Competition in Phoenix, AZ, in September of 2003 and came in 12th place! Continuing our quest as Regional Champs, we were excited to take home the 8th place medal at International Competition held in October 2005. We also placed in the top 30 choruses (of over 600) in the world in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in Fall 2007, in Nashville, TN in Fall 2009 and in Houston, TX in Fall 2011.
In Fall 2014, we are headed to International Competition in Baltimore!
We have work with nationally recognized SAI coaches in preparation for these competitions, including: Tony DeRosa, Bobbette Gantz, Peggy Gram, Laura Pallas, Pam Pieson, Dale Syverson, and most recently, Lori Lyford, Cyndi Hansen and Betty Clipman.
In addition, we perform throughout the community. During past years our performances
have included a fund-raiser for the Children's Miracle Network,
Ronald McDonald House, fire station remembrance of September 11th,
various holiday presentations at local casinos and community centers,
singing our National Anthem at a Las Vegas 51's baseball game
and several Wranglers' hockey games,
along with various performances throughout the Valley!
